Sources Update, Canada Side!

From Emilie Macot, Program Manager CWY

Today we launched the Canadian part of the water workshop guide at  CWY head office, complete with pictures of the team during the Canadian and Honduran phase.

The Canadian part of the Guide is nearly complete, in English, French and Spanish versions.  Emanuele is putting the finishing touches on a coverpage, and a few tweeks are being put on the text...and voila!.
Our goal is to send the revised trilingual guide to the CWY Youth Leaders in Action teams next week to encourage the youth to replicate the water workshop in their host communities. Once this is done, we will work on the format and include the Guide in our virtual library of educational/public engagement  resources. This will allow CWY volunteers and supervisors to use the guide in following years. We have been discussing  how to introduce this Guide to supervisors and volunteers to make sure it will be used in future programs and YLA teams. We have close to  1000 youth experiencing YLA or other programs  every year, so this resource might come very handy and be used by many different people in the future….Maybe our 6 youth water leaders will become very famous!

Here are some of the next steps we are thinking about (but nothing is confirmed yet) :

-          Launch the Guide with partners organization (Ecologos, David Suzuki,  Canal Bleu, etc…) in January to promote the use of the Guide
-          Have Ana Maria, Emanuele or/and Marie-Hélène present the guide:

§  During NFSO (National  Field Staff Orientation) in June of 2012 (to make sure supervisors know the resource exist and have a chance to experience it)
§  to colleges and high schools groups participating in internships in Benin and Bolivia (for the CMV exchange, for example)

§   to illustrate what is an Educational Activity Day (EAD) during project supervisor training or volunteer orientation.

Finally, tomorrow Emanuele and Ana Maria will be running another workshop with the Bolivia-Quebec youth-exchange and Kristy and I will be filming it….more information/clips to come!
Another workshop is also planned on November 28th with the Benin-Quebec youth exchange. The Sources-Fuentes workshop is in high demand! We exceeded our objective of 8 workshops in Canada.
